On November 18th 2010, Mr Said Darwazah, CEO of Hikma Pharmaceuticals, attended the Third Annual Harvard School of Public Health (“HSPH”) MENA Conference as the keynote speaker. The conference is a major event during the annual Harvard MENA Weekend attended by a select group of individuals including government officials, graduate students, industry leaders and alumni from Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Wharton, and Columbia. Events took place in November across Harvard’s different schools throughout the weekend. Hikma’s CEO, along with other representatives from top businesses in the MENA region, highlighted changes in the region and important elements to consider for the future.

Mr Darwazah’s keynote address, in line with the conference theme of “Leading into the Future”, covered a range of topics affecting healthcare in the MENA region including the rapid population growth, increased life expectancy, increased incidence of chronic disease, and the wide spectrum of diseases prevalent in the region. Hikma’s distinguished CEO shared his knowledge of affordability and accessibility of healthcare in the Middle East and insights about the pharmaceutical market in the MENA region where Hikma is a leading producer of branded, injectable, and generic pharmaceutical products.
